3 Tips for Mindful Eating

Diets come and go, so does the weight. All of the yo-yo dieting can create a slower metabolism, making it harder to achieve our goals. Typical diets are restrictive and cut out certain foods. When we tell ourselves we cannot have something, it usually makes us want it more!

Ready to ditch the diet? This week, I want to inspire you to bite into a healthier lifestyle!

Have you ever heard of mindful eating? In it's essence, mindful eating is practicing awareness while we are eating. Paying attention to the way eat, just as much as what we are eating.

Here are 3 helpful tips to stay mindful while eating this week!

1. Listen to your hunger cues. Ask yourself if you are really hungry or if you are bored, maybe stressed, or feeling tired? We often wait too long to eat, or eat when we don't need to. Dive into listening to your body this week.

2. Avoid distractions and just eat. Everyone is guilty of doing other things well they are eating: on the phone, computer, driving, standing up, working and multitasking. Sit down, put everything away and enjoy your meal without distractions.

3. Chew your food. Majority of digestion happens slowly, our bodies take what they need and get rid of what they don't. This makes it a lot harder if our food isn't chewed. It might sound crazy, but try to chew your food 15 times before you swallow it. Put those pearly whites to use!

All three of these tips have been proven to not only help with weight loss, better digestion, eating the right amount of food for your goals, and an increase in energy!

Give it a go rock star!
